The Emissions Testing Process

Preliminaries

Before the test is booked, we will check the suitability of the test port fitments and whether any additional access arrangements are required (e.g. a scaffold or tower arrangement etc.). The test procedures including sampling protocols can now be confirmed, and discussed with your Regulator if required.

Preparation for Tests

Prior to travelling to site, the test gear will be checked and calibrated in accordance with the Regulations and best practice, and fresh filters and reagents prepared for use.

Before the Tests

On arrival at site, the test equipment will be unloaded and set-up in a location agreed with site personnel. The analysers and other equipment will be checked and calibrated as required, and the pre-test checks completed.

Conducting the Tests

The tests can now be carried out. Please note that we will operate in conjunction with site staff such that we work to suit the sites planned workload, as we do not expect them to operate the plant to suit us. In this way, disruption is minimised. On completion, the samples will be secured, the test equipment dismantled and packed away before leaving site.

Following the Tests

On return to base, the samples are quickly despatched to an independent UKAS accredited laboratory for analysis. The pollutant emission results are calculated in accordance with the relevant standards in each case. We will compare the results of the emissions test with those obtained from the plants own emissions monitoring and reporting package for the benefit of the Regulator.

Emissions Tests Reporting

A comprehensive report will be issued to an agreed timescale on completion of sampling. The report is structured so as to make it easy to understand, but will also include all test data and calculations as appendices for the benefit of the Regulator.
